A Lunar New Year Celebration That Gives Back!
I was honored to take part in an extraordinary Lunar New Year celebration late last week, filled with incredible food, rich traditions, and breathtaking views of London, courtesy of OneSky’s partner, Hutong.
Experiencing their festive celebration and tasting the delicious Chinese New Year menu is a “must” for Londoners looking for a unique dining experience while making a difference for young children in Asia!
Our evening began with an electrifying welcome of banging drums echoing through the restaurant, a traditional sound meant to ward off bad luck and invite prosperity. Guests were greeted and ushered into the lively bar, where a traditional lion dance snaked its way through the crowd, spreading energy and good fortune. We were taken to our table, which overlooked Tower Bridge. It seemed like the good luck had already begun! Our feast started out with ‘Lao Qi,’ a traditional vegetable and sashimi dish tossed seven times for luck and wealth, followed by seafood dumplings. The main dish was a traditional crispy poussin, deep-fried sea bass fillet, and a hot and sour wagyu beef broth accompanied by pickled vegetable fried rice and wok-fried asparagus. We enjoyed a welcomed pause while the dancing lion and drummer made their way around the restaurant, marking an end to the savory dishes. Everything that went past our lips was sensational, including the sumptuous chocolatey dessert that rounded off our culinary journey!
To close the evening, we were invited to write our wishes to honor the Year of the Snake and hang them on the restaurant’s beautiful wishing tree.
What truly made this celebratory night so special? For every guest enjoying Hutong’s special Chinese New Year menu, £5 is donated to OneSky, helping to provide nurturing care for vulnerable children across Asia.
Our evening at Hutong was truly unforgettable and one that we will remember for many years to come.
Londoners, don’t miss your chance to dine for a cause this Lunar New Year! Reserve your table at Hutong before February 9th and help provide care for all children in need.
Lunar New Year Best Wishes,
