Organization Overview

We partner with communities and governments in Asia to provide young children with responsive care and safe and nurturing learning environments by training, mentoring, and supporting adult caregivers in their lives.

We are passionately focused on meeting the needs of individual children while pursuing the broader goal of helping transform systems of care so that all young children can thrive.

  • Since our founding in 1998, OneSky has trained and supported the caregivers of young children in low-resourced communities in Asia, ages 0-8, who have been orphaned, abandoned, left behind, or impacted by migration.
  • During our first 20 years, we helped transform the lives of tens of thousands of children’s lives in Chinese welfare institutions by training adults to provide them with nurturing care. Based on that experience, we realized we had a model for supporting vulnerable young children throughout Asia.
  • While supporting institutionalized children in mainland China remains at the heart of our work, we have expanded to benefit even more children in need through partnerships with the governments of Vietnam and Mongolia and the opening of the P.C Lee OneSky Global Centre for Early Childhood Development in Hong Kong, SAR.
  • We recognize that the needs of all young children are fundamentally the same and that with consistent responsive care and loving attention, children born into even the most difficult circumstances can thrive and be changemakers in their communities and the world.

Reports to: Director of Grants and Partnerships

Location: Remote in UK

Job Overview:

OneSky is seeking a highly-motivated and extremely organized individual to support the management and delivery of our grants and partnership income stream.

It is an exciting time to join OneSky. After many years of embedding our work across China, we are about to launch a pilot in Vietnam which will test the viability of a training of trainer model as a means to scale our independent childcare provider training program across the country’s industrial zones. We are also at an inflection point in Mongolia, where we plan to significantly expand our work supporting caregivers and families in the capital’s most deprived districts. In tandem with these ambitious initiatives, we are scoping the feasibility of introducing our training program for childcare workers to other rapidly developing Asian countries in the coming years.

In the past year, our grants and partnerships function has grown considerably. In addition to the application, reporting and stewardship obligations for private and corporate foundations, it now encompasses the management of significant bilateral grants from government agencies.

With this in mind, we are seeking a candidate who, in addition to being an excellent writer, is a great organizer – someone who can manage competing deadlines and ensure that applications and reports move through the development process in a timely manner, with an emphasis on quality and consistency as well as compliance with grant guidelines and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will manage and track grant awards, write reports and proposals – accurately interpreting and communicating complex information in a compelling way (including financials), maintain excellent historical records, and work with global staff to ensure each project or program is meeting the conditions, reporting milestones and expectations of the grant/partnership.

The Grants Manager will be a member of the Global Partnerships Team.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director of Grants and Partnerships to prepare, submit and manage grant applications/proposals and reports to private foundations, corporate supporters and government agencies.
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the Global Partnerships team, as well as the Development team, to develop and maintain effective systems and processes to support the management of our pipeline.
  • Work with colleagues across the Finance, Program, Communications and Measurement, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) teams to ensure accurate and consistent information is communicated to supporters. This will often involve distilling complex information, ensuring that it is clear and compelling for our prospects and partners.
  • Act as a brand guardian within OneSky to ensure the organization is represented consistently by our colleagues and partners.
  • Use Salesforce to record prospect/supporter correspondence, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; as well as maintain grant tracking and reporting functions.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
  • Stay abreast of OneSky’s programs and priorities in order to identify opportunities to secure funding, share updates with supporters, and engage partners in programmatic work.

Key Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

Experience:

  • Proven experience of writing compelling long-form content
