Job Overview:
The P. C. Lee OneSky Global Centre for Early Childhood Development (HKOSGC), opened in May 2020, provides one of Hong Kong’s most disadvantaged communities a Family Centre and Training Hub rooted in the OneSky Approach to responsive and nurturing caregiving that puts children at the center of their own learning.
We seek a highly motivated and energetic professional who will be responsible for raising the profile of HKOSGC to increase engagement. S/he will report to the Executive Director, HK while supporting the overall communications and branding goals of OneSky through collaboration with the Global Communications Team.
- The Communications Director, HK plays an important role in driving the Organization’s communications strategy across all our programs in Hong Kong. Working closely with the Hong Kong Management Team and the Global Communications Team, s/he will develop a strategic communications plan to include digital and social media for HKOSGC, and will lead and participate in the execution of that plan. S/he will be responsible for the implementation of communications both externally and internally and oversee the development of a public relations strategy and building of external relationships with media.
Job responsibilities:
Branding and Communication
- Collaborate with the Hong Kong Management Team and the Global Communications Team to ensure key messages are aligned in design, visuals, videos and collaterals.
- Ensure communication and marketing follows brand guidelines and internal principles and are kept up to date, communicated internally and regularly.
- Devise and implement a strategic communications plan for HKOSGC to ensure we maintain a high and positive profile which reaches service-users, supporters, volunteers, local NGO partners and other key stakeholders including funders.
- Work with MEAL and Program teams to implement a regular process in the monitoring, tracking and analysis of measurable analytics.
Public Relations
- Oversee, or execute as needed, the cultivation and management of press relationships to ensure coverage of issues of strategic importance to Early Childhood Development and Child Welfare, as well as HKOSGC’s programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects. As HKOSGC’s main point of contact for media in Hong Kong, disseminate information including our latest news, development and achievements through various effective channels.
- Exercise judgment to prioritize media opportunities, and prepare talking points, speeches, presentations and other supporting materials as needed for members of the Hong Kong Management Team.
- Identify and grow partnership opportunities with relevant media platforms to increase awareness of HKOSGC and its programs.
- Build and maintain good relationships with key local media networks and stakeholders.
Content Development
- Oversee, or curate content and increase audience engagement on the HKOSGC’s social media channels, aligned with global social media and digital strategy.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather the information needed to produce and update content for distribution through our print and digital channels.
- Ensure that families using HKOSGC’s services are represented well in communications, and that consent and boundary issues are managed well, in conjunction with the Programs Team and Global Communications.
- Support the drafting of press releases, reports and other written communications.
- Provide internal support with writing, editing and proofreading.
Community Relations
- Identify and engage stakeholders within the community, including local NGOs, charitable foundations and organizations, local social services groups and any other local groups that may be HKOSGC’s service target.
- Create working partnerships for future referral services.
- Invite, organize, and lead private tours of HKOSGC for community partners and constituents.
- Promote services offered by HKOSGC to the local community and NGO partners, and assist with the ongoing communication with members.
Communications Team Management
- Monitor, manage, inspire, and mentor a multinational communications team.
- Working with the Marketing and Partnerships Director, oversee the development and implementation of the marketing and communications calendar.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with other OneSky teams, local partner organizations, donors, private sector partners, and national authorities.
- Undertake any additional duties that may, from time to time, be necessary and compatible with the nature of this role
Job requirements:
- Degree in Public Relations, Communications or related discipline.
- Proven track record implementing external engagement strategies for various stakeholders across various channels.
- 8 or more years of professional experience in relationship-building and outreach-based work.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Technical skills including copy writing, design, print management, web content management skills, management of design/agency relationships etc.
- Ability to write marketing and PR materials to promote HKOSGC.
- Experience of utilizing social media platforms for acquisition and conversion purposes.
- Ability to work independently while managing a number of complex tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to think analytically and apply judgment.
- Sound knowledge of the NGO sector in Hong Kong and ability to keep up to date with new developments within the sector.
- High integrity and the ability to build and keep trust and confidence.
- A passion and interest in empowering children and families.
