OneSky is partnering with government to develop Vietnam’s first ever replicable model care and early learning center (ELC) to benefit the young children of that country’s migrant factory workers. The families live in industrial zone tenements where their small children urgently need a safe place to play and learn while their parents labor in the factories that are bringing prosperity to their country. Before OneSky’s Factory Model came to Vietnam, families had few alternatives for childcare and none for quality early education. Over 4,000 cases of child abuse, neglect, and in some cases death, are reported each year coming from unlicensed home-based childcare centers in or near industrial park areas. The Factory Model is designed to begin the process of changing the prospects for Vietnam’s smallest and most vulnerable children.
Launched in 2017 in Da Nang, OneSky’s Factory Model features a comprehensive Early Learning program that provides a stimulating and nurturing early learning environment for children 6 months-6 years. Our first Early Learning Center, a model demonstration and training center designed to be replicated by government and business across the country, provides 250 small children a safe place to play and learn, along with parenting skills classes and daycare provider training that will eventually impact thousands of children and their families.
OneSky trains local teachers to provide continuous care and education for children from birth to 6 years old. These trained teachers enhance healthy early development by blending age-appropriate, responsive care with best practices for early education, using a curriculum adapted to serve the specific needs of children in Vietnam. With this evidence-based methodology, they provide a stimulating and nurturing early learning environment that promotes healthy cognitive, emotional and social development.
OneSky trainers and mentors provide parenting skills and classes for working parents and caregivers at their workplaces and at the Early Learning Center. The class schedules are designed to accommodate parents who work long hours in factories as well as grandparents who may serve as primary caregivers.
Daycare Provider Training
OneSky provides workshops and training for home-based daycare providers so they can deliver quality care and adopt, implement, and replicate best practices. A specialized curriculum tailored for home-based daycare providers is delivered at the Early Learning Center training facility and mentoring and hands-on support is provided by OneSky trainers through on-site visits.
