We seek a highly motivated and organized individual to support our $10 million annual fundraising effort. The Community Development Coordinator is a member of the Global Development Team and is responsible for executing daily activities in support of OneSky’s overall fundraising strategy and plans. The Community Development Coordinator will report directly to the Global Development Director. This is a full-time position working out of OneSky’s Berkeley office.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage and support student groups and volunteers involved in fundraising, event planning, outreach and public education efforts.
  • Create tools and opportunities to strengthen and expand student and volunteer engagement.
  • Research, develop and execute an outreach strategy for expanding student and volunteer networks and broadening OneSky’s overall base of community support.
  • Organize, plan and implement annual summer student volunteer trip to Asia.
  • Provide support for OneSky’s Child Sponsorship Program.
  • Maintain accurate records in OneSky’s CRM database (Salesforce).
  • Provide event planning support for OneSky events as needed.
  • Assist with other special projects as needed.

  • Proficiency in Google G Suite.
  • Some experience with graphic design and photo editing a plus.

Specialist in Early Childhood Education (Ref: VNP001)

Twenty years ago, OneSky began work in China’s orphanages to provide nurturing responsive care, transforming the lives of hundreds of thousands of at-risk children and the caregivers who care for them. Now, OneSky is bringing our experience and proven methodology to other countries in Asia, including Vietnam.

In August 2017, OneSky in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training introduced the Migrant Model to address the education and care needs of young children as their parents labor in the factories that are bringing prosperity to the family and to Vietnam. Our first Early Learning Centre located in Da Nang’s Hoa Khanh Industiral Park was opened, serving 252 children between 6 months to 6 years old while also being the training hub to homebased care providers and migrant parents of children 0-3 years on responsive caregiving and early attachment. Starting 2019, OneSky will prepare to replicate and scale our early intervention model throughout Vietnam. OneSky is seeking bi-lingual (English & Vietnamese), highly motivated, collaborative team member(s) with strong leadership skills and deep knowledge of best practices in early childhood education to support our Early Childhood Programs development in Vietnam. The position(s) is based in Vietnam, with preference for candidates residing in Da Nang, Qian Ngai, Vinh Long, and/or Ho Chi Min City.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director of Programs to meet program objectives, including program quality and other deliverables
  • Work closely with the local team in Da Nang to meet program objectives, including program quality and other deliverables
  • Conduct periodic direct training as well as regular on-site mentoring and teaching to promote trainers/ teachers’ learning and work with young children.
  • Sustain the quality of the early learning centre and/or training programs through regular, hands-on support to front-line teachers and trainers.
  • Assist in program evaluation studies, such as supporting data collection and simple analysis
  • Manage and supervise a team of teachers/trainers to deliver early childhood best practices in their daily work
  • Coordinate and oversee the replication and scaling of OneSky Programs in Vietnam
  • Develop and systematically apply procedures and policies to consistently sustain program quality
  • Understand the needs of multiple stakeholders (OneSky Global, OneSky Local, Government, Funders) to best facilitate communication and coordination among all parties
  • Translate curriculum and/or communication materials occasionally from Vietnamese to English, or vice versa
  • Report in writing weekly to the Director of Programs on program quality and operations.
  • Assist to create and monitor budgets
  • Assist to generate reports to donors

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (preferably Masters degree) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development required; and/or over ten years direct experience working with young children
  • At least three years ands-on direct experience teaching young children, especially infant and toddlers.
  • At least three years experience supervising, teaching, and mentoring adults
  • Deep knowledge of early childhood best practices for young children

Early Learning Lab Specialist (Ref: HKP001)

In mid-2019 OneSky will open its first early learning lab (ELL) in Hong Kong in the heart of Sham Shui Po for vulnerable children and families. The ELL will serve as a hub for professionals and caregivers working with children at risk to learn and observe ECCE best practices. The ELC will serve the community with its new community centre and provide early childhood education for 166 children. The Hong Kong OneSky centre will be a model used to help bring to scale our early intervention practices across Asi​a.

Job Overview
The OneSky Centre is composed of an Early Learning Lab (ELL) serving at risk children 0-6 years old, a training centre for professionals and caregivers that teaches ECCE best practices, and a Community Drop-in centre and resource centre for families in the community. The ELL Specialist will be responsible for the operation of the ELL and help monitor and implement the OneSky (OS) programme. This will consist of supervising and supporting a team of teaching and non-teaching staff so that they can provide quality education for the young children in the Hong Kong Early Learning lab (ELL). The ELL is a registered childcare centre serving children 0-6 years old. The ELL Specialist will oversee 166 of children and around 30 staff. The position begins April 1st 2019 in Sham Shui Po.This position is based in Hong Kong.

Job Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education required
  • Registered CCW (child care worker) and CCS (child care supervisor) in Hong Kong
  • Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach and/or emergent curriculum required
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese (additional languages skills is desirable)
  • At least five years experience working directly with young children
  • At least three years experience in an educational leadership role that involves supervision, mentoring, and coaching of staff
  • Deep knowledge of best practices for care and education of young children

Job Responsibilities:

Program Quality
  • Work closely with the Director of Global Programs to design, implement and evaluate program quality of the Early Learning Lab serving children 0-6 years old.
  • Support the design and implementation of the ELL for launch in mid- 2019
  • Monitor program quality on a daily basis through classroom visits providing guidance
    promptly as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with the OS team to create and analyse assessments of program quality, child progress and staff professional growth
Day to Day
  • Oversee day to day operations such as coordinate scheduling, purchasing, documentation, evaluations, and conduct necessary meetings.
  • Guide staff in implementing programming in ways that are consistent with established best practices.
  • Lead the hiring of qualified certified teachers, non-certified teachers, and supporting staff for the ELL.
  • Maintain ELL environment, equipment, and materials to meet safety and health standards.
  • Work cooperatively with the OS team to create and monitor budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Outside Communication
  • Promote the OS centre and ELL to parents and visitors
  • Communicate regularly with parents about centre operations using formal and
    informal methods.
  • Coordinate visits to the ELL from donors, community members, and other
    practitioners.

  • Engage in discussions with other professionals within and outside OS that advance
    thinking and learning.
Training
  • Training of the all ELL teachers and caregivers (professional development workshops, continuous reflective practice/ facilitate teacher reflection)
  • Read and share new research findings or practices that can be helpful to staff
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to expand skills and knowledge
Reporting
  • Bi-weekly written reporting to the Director of Programs about educational programming accomplishments and challenges.
